I like homemade flapjacks

My mum has this great old little cookbook (that's now falling to bits!) that she and I often used to make yummy treats from - one of my favourite was flapjacks. I want to share this simple recipe with you!

4 Step Flapjacks

You will need:
1 teaspoon of golden syrup
4oz / 115g of margarine
4oz / 115g of sugar
2oz / 57g of oats
2oz / 57g of self-raising flour
3oz / 85g of crushed cornflakes

Mixing bowl
Wooden spoon
Saucepan
Glass bowl
Scales
Teaspoon
Greased baking tray

Step 1.

Melt the marg and syrup together, being careful not to overheat. A good way to do this is putting the ingredients in a glass (Pyrex) bowl above simmering water.

Step 2.

Mix the crushed cornflakes, flour, oats, and sugar in a bowl.

Step 3.

Mix together the melted mixture and the dry ingredients and place in a well greased tin.

Step 4.

Bake in a moderately hot oven (gas mark 5) for 15 to 20 minutes, until just firm. C
ut into fingers whilst still hot, leave to cool in tin then enjoy!
